The McKenzie Method, also known as the McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), is a widely recognized and evidence-based approach to the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those related to the spine.

Developed by Robin McKenzie, a pioneering physical therapist, this method is known for its patient-centered and self-management approach.

The McKenzie Method is particularly well-known for its effectiveness in addressing conditions such as lower back pain, neck pain, and radiating pain into the arms or legs. It has gained recognition for its evidence-based approach and emphasis on patient education and self-management. One of the core principles of the McKenzie Method is the idea that specific movements and positions can either worsen or improve a patient’s symptoms. By identifying these patterns and providing tailored exercises and self-treatment strategies, the method aims to empower patients to actively manage and reduce their musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.
