Hands On Physiotherapy

What is Hands On Physiotherapy?

“Depending on the assessment and as a part of your treatment you might receive some hands-on therapy. We use this hands-on approach to treat clients who are suffering from musculoskeletal pain & disability. Through one or a combination of joint manipulations, joint mobilisations, trigger point release, myofascial release/ stretching, neural mobilisations and massage, we strive to bring our clients into a pain free environment. This forms the base of our treatment.

Joint Manipulation

Is a quick end range movement of an individual joint. You may hear a ‘pop’ at the end of this movement. This helps to release stiffness in joints and to improve range of movement.

Joint Mobilisations

It includes gentle oscillatory movements of specific joints to create a stretch or a change in the joint perception. This can help with decreasing pain and joint stiffness.

Trigger Point Release

‘Trigger Points’ are tight bands in your muscles, which can often present as ‘knots’ and can be quite painful. Trigger point release involves holding pressure on a specific point along a muscle to help relieve the tightness.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the connective tissue that connects the whole body. Used to improve skeletal muscle immobility and pain this technique aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles.

Stretching

Fascia is the connective tissue that connects the whole body. Used to improve skeletal muscle immobility and pain this technique aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles.

Neural Mobilizations

Involves a series of specific movements to help relieve problems where the nerve can be involved in creating symptoms.

Massage

With our extensive knowledge of the anatomy and trigger points, massage specific to the injured area can give you great results in terms of helping relieve your symptoms.
